A Director of Banking Operations who will be responsible for overseeing its Banking Operations Department. Manage a team of operations specialists responsible for back-office payment processing operations of the company and managing relationships with company’s payment providers.

Key responsibilities of the Director of Banking Operations include:

  • Oversight of Banking Operations

Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential compliance risks across the Banking Operations Department and developing strategies to mitigate those risks.

Audit: Work closely with various departments on meeting audit requirements, including ACH audits, third-party service provider audits, and information security audits.

Ensuring Compliance with Regulations: As applicable, ensures compliance with applicable industry and banking regulations, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, AML, OFAC, EFTA, ACH rules and regulations, payment card industry regulations, consumer protection regulations. Direct and supervise temporary staff for annual reporting compliance to include data gathering, file preparations, and uploads to ensure timely distribution of Forms 1099-K, 1099-NEC, and 1099-MISC.

Staying Updated on Regulatory Changes: Monitoring changes in relevant federal and state laws and regulations, card network rules, NACHA rules, and adapting banking operations accordingly. Stays updated on industry trends and identifies opportunities for improvement.

Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with the Legal and Compliance Department and other departments to ensure compliance is integrated into banking operations. Partner with the GM of Payments to improve success of go-to-market efforts. Work closely with the Product teams to ensure payment facilitation efficiencies and effectiveness.

Oversight of Banking Operations: The role will have day-to-day managerial oversight for these areas of responsibility.

  • Fraud Prevention
  • Resolution of Payment-Related Issues

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10 + years of relevant experience in the payments processing industry, including but not limited to overseeing all payment operations and systems, ensuring efficiency and compliance as well as implementing risk management strategies. Experience in higher education and healthcare is preferred but not required.
  • Deep understanding of applicable laws, including BSA/AML compliance, OFAC, and card network rules.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address potential risks. Strong attention to detail, ability to analyze complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, works collaboratively with other departments including Legal and Compliance.
  • Leadership abilities to manage an operations team and build a culture of ethics and compliance within the organization.
  • Regulatory expertise, preferably with a relevant professional certification but not required.
